Sea Turtle Awareness – Haulover Beach Park

Description
Journey into the world of sea turtles as you participate in an informative presentation, followed by our summer release program.  Learn about different sea turtle species and their life cycle, as well as some of the dangers they face throughout their lives.  Come face to face with hatchlings and join them as they embark on their exciting journey into the depths of the ocean.

The Sea Turtle Awareness program consists of a 45 min. PowerPoint presentation that explains the different Sea Turtle species and their life cycle. Last Saturday, January 19, the Parks in Focus campers visited Arch Creek Park. During their visit they learned about the history and ecology of the park. They took some beautiful pictures during their visit and a majority of them have been posted on the Miami Dade Parks in Focus Facebook page.

Here is a little more information on what the Parks in Focus program is.

Parks in Focus is a sustainable historical, cultural and environmental immersion program initiated and inspired by the National Park Service and offered through the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in partnership with the Florida Park Service and History Miami.  Parks in Focus connects kids to parks and other significant natural and cultural locations in Miami-Dade County through photography, creative expression, and hands-on Saturday field trips.
