SAVE THE FROGS!
A Guest Lecture on Amphibian Conservation in the 21st Century
Sunday, January 11th

(MIAMI, December 17, 2014) — Miami EcoAdventures will host SAVE THE FROGS! founder Dr. Kerry M. Kriger who will deliver a presentation on “Amphibian Conservation in the 21st Century” on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Camp Greynolds, located at 18601 NE 22nd Ave, North Miami Beach, FL 33160. The event is free and open to the public.

How long do frogs live? How many types of frogs are there? What’s the difference between a frog and a toad? Why are frogs disappearing worldwide and what are can be done to save them? Dr. Kriger answers all these questions and more as he introduces the audience to Amphibian Conservation in the 21st Century. The presentation features many of Dr. Kriger’s photos of amphibians from around the world, and there will be a question and answer session following the presentation.

Dr. Kerry M. Kriger is the Founder & Executive Director of SAVE THE FROGS! (www.savethefrogs.com), the world’s leading amphibian conservation organization. He conceived and coordinates Save The Frogs Day, the world’s largest day of amphibian education and conservation action, and has given presentations on amphibian conservation in 11 countries.

Dr. Kriger holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Griffith University in Gold Coast, Australia, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He is a recognized expert on the amphibian disease chytridiomycosis, a topic on which he has published 15 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. Dr. Kriger’s amphibian conservation efforts have been supported by the National Geographic Society, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and various philanthropic organizations throughout the world.

Camp Manatee will be hosting Spring Camp from Monday, March 24th to Friday, March 28th at the Greynolds Park – Boathouse.

Registration starts Saturday, March 1st. You can register your camper either in person at Arch Creek Park (by appointment) or online at http://goo.gl/gGI1ya. Space is limited.

The schedule for the week is in the process of being finalized and will be available by March 1st.

Arch Creek Park will be one of the host sites for National Public Lands day, which will be celebrating their 20th anniversary. The event will be taking place on Saturday, September 28th from 8am to 12pm. Volunteer hours will be awarded to any individuals that need them.

We are excited to announce this year’s session of spring camp at Greynolds Park. Registration for starts March 1st. Please call to arrange an appointment to register your campers. The schedule of activities will be sent as soon as they are available, and will be posted on the Arch Creek Park’s WordPress blog page at www.archcreek.wordpress.com/camp/. It’s that time of year again! Camp Manatee will be hosting another fun-filled summer of activities for campers ages 6-14yrs. old. Registration has started! You can register your camper(s) on the weekends at the Greynolds Park Main Office from 9:30am to 4:30pm and will continue every Saturdays and Sundays until camp begins. Space is limited, so make sure your camper(s) don’t miss out. Also please note the changes in our fees. There will now be a Before Care (7:30am-8:30am) and After Care (5:00pm-6:00pm) weekly fee of $10 as well as a transportation weekly fee of $11.  Before Care and After Care  is a fee for parents who need that service for their campers. Regular drop off time will be from 8:30am to 9:30am and pick time will be from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Camp hours will be from 9:30am to 4:00pm. Camp Manatee also has a Counselor in Training (CIT) Program for individuals that have aged out of camp. Counselor in Training (CIT) participants will develop leadership skills and serve as a mentor to campers. CITs will learn how to lead groups and engage campers in fun activities. CITs will also assist counselors throughout the day with setting up and breaking down activities and games. Individuals enrolled in the program will receive community service hours at the end of summer. Space is limited, if interested in participating make sure to call the camp directors.
